Return to work best practice with VPS Head Of Compliance Mark Wilson

VPS provide Covid compliance assessment and audits for companies returning back to the workplace. This is to provide a summary of suggested actions and install equipment so government best practice guidelines can be followed after building reoccupation.

We have asked Mark Wilson our Head of Compliance to give us 4 key areas which should be addressed during this process.

Main Entrances & One-Way systems

One of the most important areas that needs to be address is footfall traffic entering the building then what happens once people are inside. Upon approaching the property clear signage needs to be displayed with instruction to employees of precautions which have been implemented. Once inside a clear one-way system can be established. VPS can assist with having this mapped out providing an optimal, safe route.

Room and Welfare capacities

All work, welfare and toilet faculties need to have maximum capacities calculated to allow the governments 2m distancing rule to be adhered to and also not affect the one-way system that has been implemented.

PPE equipment and Signage

Clear signage needs to be erected to make sure employees know what routes to take, where they can/cannot sit, room capacities and also distance markers were necessary. PPE equipment such as IR temperature detectors at the site entrance, hand sanitiser stations and Perspex screens should be readily available for all staff on site. As part of the compliance assessment VPS can supply and install all recommended signage and equipment.

Suspected Infection Response action plan

If you do have a suspected infection on site staff should been trained and provided with a clear action plan which can be implemented quickly, with exactly what steps need to be taken to mitigate the risk of further transmission. This should not be over complicated to make sure it can be easily remembered and able to be carried out, by any member of staff.

Thank you, Mark, for providing some key areas to address during a return to work implementation. VPS can provide a full 12-point audit of your site, with a full site risk assessment, mapping of one-way systems making PPE recommendations and installing any necessary equipment. All of this is delivered in a detailed report which can be referred back to throughout the process.
